Fall is blooming at our house!

Last year, Matt purchased a couple potted mums from the grocery chain with which he works. Once the season was drawing to a close, we transplanted it to our flower bed. Little did we know it would turn into this monster!!!!

Matt's hand is in the picture to give you an idea of how big it is, though the picture doesn't really do it justice. This thing is huge!!! It's probably 3 feet around. And it's not even fully bloomed in this picture. WOWWWW!

We're going to do our annual fall decorating this coming weekend, so Mr. Mumtastic here will appear in a few more pictures, I'm sure. He's a hoss, and now the official 6th member of our family, after Corduroy. :o)

Running Stats (Sept 18 - 25)

Well first of all, this picture sums up what this past week looked like.

My running stats for this last week were horrible.

Sunday, Sept 18th - I took Hendrix for a bike ride.
Distance: 2.28 miles @ 7.6 mph.

Wednesday, Sept 20th - Treadmill
Distance: 2.25 miles
Pace: 5.6 mph

I find it to be getting harder and harder to keep up running outside with the weather getting cooler, and having two young ones at home. If it were just me, I'd have no problem getting outside when it was 50, 40, even 30 degrees. But I obviously can't put the boys in the stroller with it being that chilly out, and for the past few weeks, it's only been in the 50's in the mornings, which is the only time I can run. At this point in the year, I'm just going to have to run on the treadmill at work through the week, and get outside on the weekends. I"m trying not to worry though, because I only have 4 weeks left before my 5k, and at this point, I'm certainly not ready. These next four weeks require complete concentration and motivation. I know I can do it.

Running Stats (Sept 11 - Sept 17)

I was only able to run outside twice this week, due to the weather cooling off a lot. Jameson's just too little to take out in the jogging stroller. But I still got 3 cardio sessions in, and I feel good about that!

Tuesday Sept 13th
Distance: 2.02
Pace:12:00
Calories: 258

Thursday Sept 15th - Treadmill @ work
Distance: 2
Pace: 11:30
Calories: ?

Saturday Sept 17th
Distance: 2.86
Pace: 11:08
Calories: 352

Running Stats (Sept 4 - Sept 10)

I did it - I registered for my first 5k! It's Sunday, October 23rd. I'm nervous, but excited. I've been wanting to run a race for a long time, and was invited to join this one by a co-worker and her boyfriend. So now I have something to work towards in my training. Here are my stats for the previous week:

Sunday, September 4th
Distance: 2.46 miles
Pace: 10:53
Calories: 294

Tuesday, Sept 6th (with the jogging stroller and 2 adorable boys)
Distance: 2.03 mi
Pace: 11:43
Calories: 233

Saturday, Sept 10th
Distance: 2.61 mi
Pace: 10:19
Calories: 310

And amazing news - I weighed myself at work on Monday, and I was 145.5. I weighed myself last night (Thursday), and was 143.5. I lost 2 pounds this week, and I'm only 3.5 lbs away from my goal weight. I couldn't be more excited! I've been doing better this week at making healthy food choices, and drinking water. Good things are happening! :o)

My creative juices are FLOWING!

Sewing machine, I missed you during our short hiatus.

As anyone with children knows, doing anything other than being that "feed-rock-change diaper-repeat process" machine is next to impossible when you have a newborn baby. Especially a colicy one. *shudder*

But, Jameson is 12 weeks old today (yay!), and has been doing amazing for the past couple weeks. He even naps sometimes, now! On the days that Hendrix goes to daycare, I've been able to get out the sewing machine and create things again!

With the ability to do that, along with my discovery of pinterest.com (valuable hours completely wasted, thankyouverymuch), my creative juices are once again flowing. I've even created a store on etsy.com, in hopes of selling some of the things I make. Here are my new creations:

I hesitated to put these on my blog yet, as they're not completely finished, but decided to do it anyway, since their level of adorableness kills me! These fabric-applique turkey shirts will be on my sweet boys for Thanksgiving. I'm making 3 more in girly colors for my nieces as well. Gobble gobble!

I made these shirts for family pictures that are to take place this coming weekend. We're doing a large family picture, and it was decided that each small family would wear a different color. Well, the Metz's are the red team. I didn't want our smaller family pictures to have all 4 of us in solid red (eek!), so I got the boys white shirts and added some appliques. Loving it! Jameson's shirt is less fancy that Hendrix's, since it's just on a Wal-Mart onesie. But Hendrix's shirt is amazing, I must say. It really looks like something you'd pay about $40 for from Tommy Hilfiger or something. I showed it to Matt. He doesn't get too excited about things like this, but his response was "Oh.My.Gosh." :o)

This, while totally unfancy, was a project that Hendrix and I made together on a cooler day this past week. He received a piggy bank when he was born, but Jameson did not. So we made him one, in animal prints to match the safari theme of this bedroom. This is just an old formula can, decopauged with scrapbooking paper. Simple.

I love being able to be creative again! And with the weather cooling off, I'm having more time to do it, since my monster toddler can't be outside for 23 hours a day (he wishes!). Hope to be posting more soon!

Running Stats (Aug 28 - Sept 3)

Well, it was another crappy week for my running. Boo. I took the jogging stroller out on Monday morning, and got in 2 miles. But I've been having problems with pain in my right foot. I'm hoping, that by staying off of it this week, I'll be back in business. I'm going out this evening, so we'll see how it goes.

Distance: 1.86
Pace: 12:04
Calories: 203

Puny, I know. I have been invited to run a 5k in October, so I'm thinking if I work real hard, and use the jogging stroller, like baseball players put weights on their bats when they're warming up, that I should be able to go 3.1 miles without the stroller with no problem. I've never run an actual race before. I'm nervous! We'll see what happens.
